But this journey also includes some experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today. My Journey
I remember when I was in high school I was quiet and reserved. There was commotion on the bus one day, and I stood up, quoting the words of Martin Luther King Jr. It was a small moment, but it was profound. In that instant, I realized something that would change the course of my life. My voice mattered. My peers listened to me, and I had influence. It was then I understood the power of words and actions to resonate and inspire change.
I am a nonprofit executive director and have been in the nonprofit sector for 13 plus years.
Motivation Behind the Blog
The idea for The Changemakers Digest emerged from a simple realization: the world is full of potential and first-time leaders, many of whom are just a few insights away from unlocking their true potential. I envisioned a space where these leaders could find the guidance and inspiration they needed, and thus, this blog was born.
When I was early in my career, I had a pivotal realization—I was a leader. However, I noticed a pattern: attention and guidance were mainly directed toward me when I expressed interest in a new role or when I started a new role. The focus wasn't on intentionally developing my leadership skills as a leader and in the role I currently held.
This observation sparked an idea within me. I desired to create a platform where emerging and first-time leaders, irrespective of their titles or positions, could access the resources and support they needed to thrive. The Changemakers Digest was conceived from this desire—a space dedicated to nurturing leadership potential, regardless of where one stood in their journey.
It became clear that leadership isn't just about titles or climbing the corporate ladder; it's about cultivating leadership traits and skills in every moment of one's professional and personal life. I envisioned a platform that would offer guidance not only to those on the cusp of a promotion but also to individuals hungry to grow and lead within their existing roles.
The ultimate goal was to help people thrive—not just within their jobs but in their communities and beyond. Leadership isn't just needed for a career, it's about leading in the community too. The Changemakers Digest was born out of this aspiration to provide an empowering environment where leadership isn't defined by job titles but by the impact one makes in their current sphere of influence.
